Ikona IT scholarship winner announced

Matt Seymour, a 2nd year software engineering student at the University of Glamorgan has been chosen as the inaugural recipient of the “Ikona Scholarship Fund”. The scholarship consists of a £1,000 award and work skills mentoring for one person within Wales, who is currently attending the University of Glamorgan or hoping to attend in October 2012.

Director of Ikona Spiro Ginis is delighted to offer this scholarship, “As a graduate of the University of Glamorgan and successful business owner, I’m keen to ensure that current and future students are able to achieve their full potential. I believe that it’s essential for business owners to play their role in developing the next generation of entrepreneurs. In Matt, I believe he typifies everything that we are looking for in the winner of the scholarship. He has shown great determination in his studies and is one day keen to launch his own business!”

Scholarship winner, Matt Seymour says “It is with great honour and pleasure to be selected as the winning applicant of the Ikona Scholarship. As a result of winning such an award it has boosted my confidence and motivation towards striving and reaching success with my Software Engineering degree. It has also opened potential doorways for me and given me inspiration to one day run my own software development company.“

The inaugural scholarship has proved a huge success in attracting many applications. However, Ikona is very keen to develop the fund and provide many more opportunities for other University of Glamorgan students next year.
